How do you save your progress on a Wii game to your Wii remote?

Just when you thought you were done unwrapping holiday gifts, how's this for an awesome present under the tree? Our friends at Disney are hooking one extremely lucky JSYK reader up with a brand new Nintendo Wii system plus a copy of TRON Evolution: Battle Grids for Wii (total prize retail value: $240.00).

TRON Evolution hit stores on December 7th; click here to read a review and watch the game trailer on YouTube. The game definitely complements the movie action -- will you check it out?

For a chance to win, just answer the question, 'What did you love about TRON Legacy? in the 'Win!' box below' Note: Your comment doesn't have to answer the question to be eligible win (the winner will be selected at random no matter what you write), but we'd love to hear what you have to say about the movie and the game! Entries must be posted by midnight EST on Monday January 3, 2011. Good luck!

Click here to read the official rules. Open to legal residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia) who are 13 years old and older.

3D probably isnt good for the young ones amongst us, but Nintendo has a plan

Its not long now until the general dirty unwashed public (Im talking about us) gets their hands on the Nintendo 3DS, and soon after that, the rest of the world. 3D displays arent good for kids with developing eyes and Nintendo knows this. So, for the first time they have detailed the relevant safety instructions for playing games in the wonderful world of 3D.

Nintendo recommends currently to take a break after every hour of play, however with the 3DS, a break of every 30 minutes is suggested. "If your physical condition worsens or you become ill, please stop playing at once," says Nintendo in a statement.

Kids under 6 are recommended not to play with the 3D graphics as kids eyes are still developing and it could cause trouble later in life. Nintendo is even going as far as putting in parental controls that can lock the 3DS in the wonderful world of 2D.

Reminder Number 1242: Well be heading over to Japan for the Nintendo World 2011 event, get all the details here.

Consumer technology is advancing at such a rate that it is becoming increasingly common for such technology to find its way into various scientific applications. One of the more obvious examples is seen in the benefits high-performance computing has received from consumer graphics cards. We have also seen laptops used to measure earthquakes, and accelerometers such as those found in the Wiimote, iPhone, and other consumer electronics used to measure the flight patterns of the Malayan colugo.

In a recent paper in Water Resources Research, a team reports on the use of the Wiimote to measure evaporation. Natural evaporation rates are an important part of the water cycle; estimates of evaporation are required for weather forecasts, flood forecasts, and water resource planning, among other things.
