Weve got 4 copies of A Shadows Tale to give away help us celebrate our tenth birthday and win!

Thanks to the very cool people at Mindscape, we have four copies of A Shadow’s Tale to give away for the Wii. A Shadow’s Tale is only just out here in Australia and Europe and won’t be available in America until next year! Created by the awesome people at Hudson Soft, the game is played entirely as a shadow. You’ll have to climb the shadows of the tower to reach the top. There are puzzles and enemies along the way that will impede your progress but you’ll have to battle past it. Check it out in action below.

As a bonus even if you don’t win the big prize, 10 runners up will something. It’s a special gift that is exclusive to Vooks and is your birthday present. (Don’t worry main prize winners, you’ll get one too).

We’ve got another creative competition for you again, this time we want you to, like the game, play in the shadows.

Everyone and everything casts a shadow, so we want you to recreate your favourite game in shadow form. You don’t have to make the whole game, just a snapshot. You can use yourself, toys from the games, or get out of the cardboard and glue and get really creative. We want to see some cool stuff!

To enter, all you have to do is email your image (digital photo), along with your name, address, and either your Vooks username or a link to your Twitter or Facebook profile.

The address you’ll need is:

shadows@vooks.net

Good luck everyone!

- This competition commences immediately, and will conclude on the 9th of November. One entry is allowed per person. Four (4) entrants will win a copy of A Shadow’s Tale. 10 runners up will win a consolation gift as well. This runners-up gift will be announced at a later date as we confirm stock.

- Winners are selected based on creativity and effort; you don’t have to be an art major to win.

- The competition is open to all residents of Australia and New Zealand except where prohibited by local law. To be eligible to win you must be a member of the Vooks Forums, "Like" Vooks on Facebook or be following us on Twitter.

- Vooks staff members (past and present) are ineligible to win. Vooks is not responsible for lost or damaged mail and the prizes are not redeemable for cash.

- We reserve the right to substitute any of the prizes but will always do so for a prize of equal value. Vooks reserves the right to change the terms and conditions of this competition at any time.

- What are you looking at swan?!

My brother is turning 30 this week & he wants a game for his wii. He says he has alot of games but I don’t know specifics. I asked him what type of games he likes and he said it doesn’t matter. From what I remember when we were kids he always liked adventure games and fighting games. I also remember a game he loved where he beat up hookers?? He loved whatever game that was. Suggestions please?

What is a good nintendo wii game for a 30 yr old male?

I am wondering if there is a solution to my Wii remote problem. While I am playing Super Mario Bros. my remote freezes from pressing the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time. This happens when I am trying to run fast and jump at the same time. Mario then stops moving or keeps going in that direction without stopping. Is there something I can do (other than not push them at the same time) to fix this problem?

Problem with Wii remote freezing while playing game?
They were going to get it in the end, now everybodys happy

Nintendo has at last thrown the Americans a bone and announced the impending release of the Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition Wii game. Yes, we cant always get something that the Americans dont, but its nice to share things.

Like everywhere else, the bundle will come in a spiffy red box, and contain a redesigned Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, like the SNES original, all on a single disc. Plus, itll have a soundtrack CD of select music and sound effects from a range of past Super Mario games, and an illustrated booklet that features interesting material from the development history of the games.

One thing were envious about though is that the American bundle has been announced by Nintendo themselves and has a price attached to it (US$29.99). All we have at the moment is a notice on the classification site and no official word from Nintendo about its release, but it is coming so just hold out a bit longer.

Nintendo demos a much improved store with demos, videos and more

The Wii and Nintendo DSi stores, to put it frankly are pretty rubbish. Theyre slow, hard to find things and its something Nintendo has acknowledged themselves. However, this is all about to change. At a investor briefing today, Iwata finally showed off some of the interface for the shop and it looks mighty impressive and a whole lot smoother.

The channel is part Shopping Channel and part Nintendo Channel rolled into one. The store features racks with different themes of titles to buy and when you select a game you can see more detail on the game. These details include all the usual rundown of information but you can also see movies of the game in action, see opinions from other players and the most important of all, there are demos.

Now were not sure yet if the demos are for all titles or are, at all, mandatory but its a great step forward to at least have the potential for demos.

You can check out the system in action in the video below; tell us what you think on the forums.

The general public will get its first hands on with the 3DS early next year

The press (even our Josh) and industry people have had their hands all over the 3DS now since this years E3. Now, its time for the average joe public to get their hands on, well if you live in Japan that is.

The event is to be held over a three day weekend on January 8th, 9th and 10th in 2011. Its being held at the same venue as the Toyko Game Show and last months Nintendo conference, so you know its going to be big.

The announcement came from Iwata himself in a video recorded especially for the event. The reason for the event, and the biggest challenge for Nintendo with the 3DS is that you have to see the 3D effect in action, screens and video wont do it.

Expect events like this all around the world as the launch of the system gets closer, and yes probably even here in Australia.

Food, Fashion and Furniture, direct from your Wii console

Nintendo is launching a new Wii channel next week in Japan and it’s a little bit of an odd one. The Wii no Ma Shopping channel will go live next week and allow Japanese Wii owners to buy exclusive items in a ’mall like’ environment.

Three Japanese suppliers are on board offering a range of different products such as food, fashion items and even furniture. Of course you will be able to buy 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

According to Nintendo, there are now 10.7 million Wii’s in Japan and of those only 40% connect to the internet. That is still a fair chunk of people who could possibly connect to this new online store.
