Kirbys latest yarn is finally coming to Australia

Nintendo Australia has confirmed the release date of the long awaited Kirbys Epic Yarn. The game will be out on February 24th, just under a month away. Epic Yarn is different from other Kirby games in that the game looks and plays as if everything in the world is made out of materials and fabrics. Kirby included.

In Kirbys Epic Yarn, a powerful sorcerer named Yin-Yarn transports Kirby to a realm called Patch Land. Along with the fearless Prince Fluff, Kirby must recover strands of magic yarn that will help keep this wondrous cloth-based kingdom from coming completely unravelled. Kirbys Epic Yarn contains a two player mode as well, you can play as either Kirby or Prince Fluff and tackle levels co-operatively.

Kirbys Epic Yarn is due for release on February 24th, at a price of $99.95AU or $129.00NZ. Ouch to our Kiwi friends.

No, it isnt related to the Professor Layton game

Nintendo Japan has put up a site for a new Wii game called Pandoras Tower, with a subtitle that translates to "Until Im By Your Side Again". The site specifies neither the genre nor the developer of the game, but does say the game will be released in Japan in Spring 2011 and is rated C (high-end M rating here).

The artwork you see above and the piano music that plays on the site are the only clues to the games background. In fact, its strongly reminiscent of the initialMetroid: Other M site which was just as mysterious... and soothing. Perhaps this is another Team Ninja/Nintendo partnership? With a release not to far away, Nintendo will likely reveal more details soon.

Learn to type with all your favourite Pokmon (though Pokmon you hate may be in there too)

First revealed during last years Nintendo Conference, Battle & Get! Pokémon Typing DS (Western title unannounced) is a typing tutor of sorts in which you battle and defeat Pokémon by typing. The game will be bundled with a licensed keyboard, sans numeric pad, which will interface with the game card via Bluetooth.

The exact dimensions of the keyboard are not yet known, but the picture below should give you a fair idea of the size.

According to Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, the keyboard may also be used with other devices, however compatibility isnt guaranteed. An alternative would be Nintendos other licensed keyboard, the Logitech Cordless Keyboard for Wii, which is known to work with several devices in addition to the Wii.

The game will be out in Japan in April; releases in other regions have not yet been confirmed.

Super Smash Bros. (N64/Wii) Game Review
With the Nintendo 3DS, Sony NGP, and iPhone/iPod Touch, gamers have an increasing number of mobile choices. What's your pick?
As the release date approaches, things become more unclear

First it wasn’t, then it was, and now it seems the new Nintendo 3DS eShop will not be launching with the console, at least in Japan. The information was revealed today at a Nintendo Investors Briefing, This information flies in the face of what Nintendo Europe have said, but aligns with with what Nintendo America has hinted at. In other words, no one really knows when the Nintendo 3DS eShop will launch, and everything is a dream.

The opening of the store will mean that the Virtual Handheld games, 3DS Ware, Web Browser and DSiWare Transfers won’t be ready for launch. So if you’re trading in your 3DS, you’re pretty much up that creek.

Nintendo has also revealed you’ll be able to swap your transfers from 3DS to 3DS. Nintendo has also uploaded tiny videos of how the Home menu on the 3DS works as well as the 3DS friends list in action.

Nintendo reveals another more classic Kirby game on the way

Nintendo has held an investor briefing in Japan today and revealed, in their "oh-so-quiet" way, a brand new Kirby game. The game which so far doesnt have a name, is being developed by HAL Laboratories and looks to be very similar to the Kirby game weve been seeing for years as coming soon.

There is no other information about the game apart from a few seconds of footage shown off on the investors page of the Nintendo site. The videos are tiny and only show off mere seconds of the game. You can take a look on this page.

Nintendo has also announced a game called Pandoras Tower which will be released later this year, no information on that yet apart from the name. Satoru Iwata has also promised that there are many other unannounced Wii games in development.

Iwata also mentioned that it is the 25th Anniversary of Zelda this year and the 15th of Pokemon. He doesnt mention any plans for anything specifically, but Nintendo went all out for the Mario 25th. Alright, who feels old now?

Nintendos CEO opens up a can of whoop-ass on Sony - not really but it sounds exciting

Sonys recently announced upgrade to the Playstation Portable, codenamed NGP, has swept around the internet over the last two days. It’s certainly a powerful piece of kit. So what does Nintendo think about it? Bloomberg went straight to the top today at an investor briefing in Japan and asked Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata what he thought about it.

In typical classy style, Iwata remained calm and cool saying that "They’re trying to appeal to customers from a different direction than us. The customers will decide which is correct." So will Nintendo be changing anything about the 3DS in lieu of the NGP announcement? "Nintendo is not the kind of company that thinks about how we oppose other company’s product," says Iwata. So that’s a no.

Also revealed yesterday was the Playstation Suite, Sony’s new platform which will allow Playstation content on non-Playstation hardware. Bloomberg asked if this is something Nintendo would ever do. "So long as I am CEO, it definitely will not happen." replied Iwata. Strike two.

Pick a side, or not and refrain from being a douche.

At a separate Q&A today, Iwata was also asked on why Western Studios seem to play little importance on Handheld games. He puts it up to developers finding it difficult to devote resources to portable systems, but he’s confident it will change. Iwata believes when the importance of handhelds in the west changes, so will the efforts by developers. He even says that the NGP may even help things along, but there is also other factors that will play a part of it.
