Including one screenshot in 3D...

The first screenshots for the compilation of all six Bit Trip games, Bit Trip Saga, have been released, including one in 3D for viewing on your 3DS.

The screenshots and new box art image are what you’d expect if you already know of the series. If you don’t the games are arcade games that hook you into trying to beat a high score just one more time. There are a variety of different games in Saga, including Bit Trip Beat, a pong-eque bat and ball game.

The games started out on Wiiware but have seen releases elsewhere including on the iPad.

Beat Trip are known for their trippy graphics and tunes, which will now be even more trippy that they are in 3D. Included with the other screenshots is a 3D screenshot you can download and view using the 3DS’s camera app. We certainly hope the eShop will show off games with 3D screenshots and videos when it comes out though, because removing the 3DS’s SD card to manually copy over screenshots is less than ideal.

Still, enjoy the screenshots and box art complements of Gameinformer.

Ubisoft says set phasers to wow

Ubisoft’s UK chief Rob Cooper has come out saying gamers should not discount Nintendo’s ability to innovate the home console.

Cooper spoke to MCV UK saying he expects the rumoured Project Cafe to “wow” when it is shown off for the first time at E3 next week.

"What you always get with Nintendo is innovation, with consumers at the heart of the technologies they create, which will always result in huge success and I’m more than confident that Wii 2 will live up to this," he told MCV.

We’ll get our first look at the new system on June 9 at 2am (AEST) at Nintendo’s E3 briefing. I wonder if Iwata’s comments circa 2005 that people will say “wow” when they see their console’s graphics will actually be true this time.

Join the discussion on the forums about what you think we’ll see in the new console. Will it have the rumoured touch screen controllers or are Nintendo planning some other big surprise?

The Nintendo Wii requires its sensor bar to be placed above or below your television. The Kinect is nothing but a camera that senses your movement during gameplay. The PlayStatIon Move requires the PlayStation Eye in order to work. If you're a hardcore gamer, that means you have three sensors hooked up to your television to keep everything in working order.

As someone who makes a living playing games, this is a problem I've wrestled with, but I'm not sure how widespread a problem it is among the rest of the gaming population. Just in case there is a market here, dreamGear has announced the TriMount, a product that holds all three sensors and clips to your television. This is something you need to see.

Is the cancelled DS game getting another shot?

The Australian Classification Board has unearthed yet another unannounced game, this time its Wayforwards Alien Infestation. While the rating says its a multi-platform title (which games dont these days) its possible its the reincarnation of the DS version of Aliens: Colonial Marines. That game was thought to be cancelled back in 2009.

Wayforward are best known perhaps for Shantae but theyve also been responsible for Contra 4 on the DS and A Boy & His Blob on the Wii and more recently Thor on the Nintendo DS. The Alien franchise never catches a break, lets hope that his one will burst out of someones chest sooner than later. Perhaps on the Nintendo 3DS?

We know its coming now, but what will the 3DS version bring

We all know its coming finally, however now weve got the first details on the Nintendo 3DS version of the game. Its good news too as it seems the Nintendo 3DS version will at least be comparable to the consoles HD versions.

The 3DS version is being directed by Tetsu Katano, he directed Sonic and the Black Knight that was on the Wii a couple of years back. The 3DS version will be a complete 2D side scroller in both modern and classic modes of the game. The game will play a lot like Sonic Colours and Sonic Rush.

Theres only one level shared between all the console versions and thats Green Hill Zone, the rest of the levels on the Nintendo 3DS will have are completely exclusive including Casino Night zone. The Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations will only have the characters essential to the story, that means none of Sonics friends. The Modern Sonic mode of the game will use the 3D display more than the classic sonic as hell move between the foreground and the background levels.

The other features of the Nintendo 3DS will be getting used to with StreetPass used to unlocked additional challenges, Play Coins can also unlock these modes. The 3DS versions also has a two player race mode but only for local multiplayer. Oh and a Wii version? According to Sega they want the console versions to be in HD, no hard feelings right?

Expect to see more of all versions of Sonic Generations early next month at E3.

The Super Mario Galaxy composer also helped remaster the Ocarina of Time 3D soundtrack

The name Mahito Yokota may or may not ring a bell for you. He worked alongside legendary Nintendo composer Koji Kondo in developing the Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack. In fact, Yokota composed all but four of the games musical pieces. In the latest Iwata Asks, the Nintendo CEO sat down with Kondo and Yokota to discuss the music remastering process in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.

Working with the Japanese transcript of the interview, it seems the soundtrack has been adapted for the 3DSs "surround sound" speakers. Talk of "orchestration" is also scattered through the interview, but whether this means the remastered soundtrack has indeed been orchestrated or actually arranged as a MIDI may be clarified in the English translation.

Its revealed that Yokota is also working on the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Wii. If the quality of music matches that of his Super Mario Galaxy soundtrack, then we may be in for an aurally orgasmic game.

Ocarina of Time 3D is out on June 30, with Skyward Sword releasing some time this year.

Sega and Griptonite bringing the classic back in a big way

Sega has now fully revealed the return of the classic franchise Shinobi. The game, which is due out this September is a re-imagining of the game but it’s no remake or port, it’s an entirely new game for the new system and it’s being developed by Griptonite games.

The classic side-scrolling action of the game is presented in all new 2.5D graphics. Shinobi tells the story of Jiro Musashi, the leader of the Oboro clan and father of Joe Musashi, the hero of the first iterations of Shinobi. There’s a new combo system in the game which will have you switching up between melee, ranged and acrobatic attacks. 3DS features include the inclusion of StreetPass, but it’s not yet known exactly what they’ll entail. Sega has released the first trailer of the game showing the ninja action in motion.

Shinobi is out this September only for the Nintendo 3DS.
