Skyward Sword + Gold Wii Remote + CD + Europe = Win

Nintendo of Europe has today announced that it will be offering the Special Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword when the game goes on sale on November XX. Like its American counterpart, the game will come in a fancy box and have a Golden Wii Remote Plus and a Special Soundtrack CD.

The one difference from the American version? It will require you to preorder the game. Americans can pick up the game bundle within the first shipment.

No, theres no still no word on it from Nintendo Australia, in fact they have nothing to announce. In other words its probably coming but theyre not saying anything until they want to.

We now know whats coming this Thursday, at least in Japan

The Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program starts on Thursday, what that means is your 10 free games are will be available from the eShop from there. Up until now weve only known about 5 of them, now Nintendo Japan at least has revealed the final 5. The complete list is as follows:

    •    Super Mario Bros.
    •    Donkey Kong Jr.
    •    Balloon Fight
    •    Ice Climber
    •    The Legend of Zelda
    •    Wrecking Crew
    •    NES Open Tournament Golf
    •    Yoshi
    •    Metroid
    •    Zelda II: The Adventure of Link

The initial list of 5 was the same between Japan and Australia (and the rest of the world) so we dont see while the rest the list will be different.

Look for the games to go up Thursday Night Australian time. Well try and confirm with Nintendo Australia whats coming before then. But maybe not.

Bought a 3DS before August 11th? Missed the deadline? One last shot remains

Despite lots of coverage on the internet some people have missed out on the Nintendo Ambassador program, other wise known as the ’Free NES and GBA games for buying a 3DS early’ program. But fear not, if you didn’t connect your 3DS to the eShop before the cutoff then here’s what you have to do.

Remember if you bought a 3DS after the price drop, there’s no way to get the free games.

- If you accessed the Nintendo e-shop at any time before August 11, you’re automatically on the Ambassador Program. That’s not new, but probably worth reiterating.

- If you didn’t access the eShop, you no longer need to fill out any forms or PDF form. All you need to do is send Nintendo your receipt, along with your name, email address and the serial number of your 3DS.

- Credit card statements or any other statements aren’t viable methods of proof of purchase — even if they feature a letterhead.

- Nintendo also recommended keeping a photocopy of your receipt since they won’t be able to send any back.

- You have until September 30 to register.

- You must send your receipt and information to the following address:

Attention: Nintendo 3DS Ambassador Program
804 Stud Road, Scoresby, VIC, 3179

Thanks to Kotaku AU for getting all of that information. Remember, you can check your registration status here, and if you’re enrolled the free games are on the way at least from Thursday.

Excitebots Trick Racing coming to the Japanese rewards program

If you haven’t heard about Excitebots, you just need some more excitement in your life. Excitebots was released in America only, and despite being a kick ass game, Nintendo Europe (and therefore Australia) never chose to release it anywhere else. The game is now coming to the Japanese Club Nintendo as a 1000 Point gift. That’s pretty hefty but it may be the only way the Japanese get to experience the game.

Excitebots Trick Racing is a semi-sequel to the launch game ExciteTruck and featured online multiplayer and lots of crazy animal-based robots racing around causing all sorts of grief. The game was released at the peak of the Wii and would probably have got lost in the Wii Fit onslaught.

You know what would be awesome? If the game ever games out on our Club Nintendo. We can dream right? Despite the game not coming out in Australia, we put up out own Excitebots Trick Racing Review anyway.

Hey look its something new on the Club, that no one else has!*

The Australian Classification Board has added a whole slew of classic Game Boy games for the 3DS Virtual Console over the weekend, but one of them wasnt a Game Boy game at all. No it was a DS game, well Game and Watch games on a DS card.

Yes, Im talking about Game & Watch Collection 2. Took me a while but I got there in the end. The second collection contains Octopus and Parachute.

This no doubt means that the second collection will come to the Australian Club Nintendo sometime before 2012. I say that because well, the world is ending after that and not even Nintendo can avoid that.

*Does not include Japan, they get everything.

Special Edition of the game will include some goodies

Nintendo of America has just revealed the the American Special Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The special and limited edition will come with a gold Wii Remote Plus and a CD containing tracks from the Legend of Zelda Orchestra concerts. Its labelled as a Special CD, we presume itll be much like the Special CD released with our Xenoblade disk here in Australia and contain a smaller number of tracks. The CD will be coming to both the normal and limited editions of the game, but only for the initial produciton of the game.

The box art for the game has also been released and it looks quite awesome, to put it in cool kids terms. If this limited edition is as limited as the original release of Metroid Prime Trilogy the numbers of this bad box bundle will be quite low.

Now will we get this bundle here in Australia? How about a release date first?

Our biggest and best competition yet, we were totally blown away

Sometimes Im well and truly amazed by the community and readers of Vooks, you guys and gals are awesome at the best times but when we hold a competition your skills and talents really come out. Sure, youre trying to win a copy of the excellent Xenoblade and posters to go with it, but really, weve had so many awesome entries in this time that it was incredibly hard to pick the winners.

Going through all the entries was hard, but it was also fun and exciting. Seeing peoples designs down on paper and the ideas people have come up with was especially interesting. I want to say, even if you didnt win - youve all put in excellent designs and I will be uploading all of them for everyone to check out.

But its time for the winners (click to enlarge);

Well be following up all winners with a email shortly to confirm or grab your address so we can get the goodies sent out as soon as possible.

Thanks again to all the entrants, all of the entries will be going up shortly and well let you know on Facebook and Twitter when they do. Also a big thanks to Nintendo Australia; without them, we wouldnt have received the games and posters to give away.

Be on the lookout for our next competition which will be going up shortly.

N-Space developed, being covered in vomit by kids not included

The latest Nintendo Power has been released and in it, the reveal of a new RollerCoaster Tycoon game thats heading to the the Nintendo 3DS in March next year. The game is to be developed by n-Space and published by Atari. Its an entirely all new game built especially for the Nintendo 3DS. Youll be able to, of course, build all sorts of crazy roller coaster styles such as suspended, hydraulic, wooden, steel and more.

Its not all roller coasters though as youll have to build monorails, kiddie rides, ferris wheels and merry-go-rounds. Hiring staff and keeping the the part in order of course in there. Apart from the main game there are other modes such as Coaster Creator and a Sandbox.

There are scans of the magazine out, but well have proper screenshots of the game soon.

We might just get a piece of the musical action, maybe

At E3 last June, Nintendo announced a Symphony Concert Tour to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. So far, Los Angeles and London have been announced as the first destinations for the tour, beginning late October. Naturally weve been left wondering whether the orchestra will head down to Australia, and we may now have an answer.

Nintendo Australia has already set up a minisite dedicated to Zeldas anniversary but there is no immediate mention of the concert. However, a look at the sites source code reveals a reference to a possible future link to concert details, in an HTML comment tag. In plain English, Nintendo might be getting ready to announce details about the concert hitting Australia some time soon.

Mind you, even if the tour does include Australia, the concert might only play in one city, most likely Sydney or Melbourne.

Zelda director shares his thoughts on Wii U potential

In the latest issue of Nintendo Power, long-time Zelda director Eiji Aonuma has commented on the Wii U and some of his thoughts regarding bringing Zelda to the system.

Hes particularly excited about the consoles ability to take advantage of two screens. Aonuma commented that they "really allow[s] for some different interactions" and cited some examples such as "having the contents of Links satchel available to you on the screen of your controller", allowing you to interact with gameplay on the television via the pouch.

Aounuma also feels that the controller itself could "[become] the different items that Link is using", in turn allowing for unique gameplay by interacting with the game world in a very different, unprecedented way.

However, this is most likely completely speculation as development on a new Zelda title wont commence until Aounumas current project, Skyward Sword is complete.
