DS

Due out in Spring, thats sometime between September to November this year in case you were wondering

Nintendo Australia has confirmed that we’ll be getting a release date very similar to Europe and America for Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2. It will be out in ’Spring 2012’ which is sometime between September and November later this year. Don’t expect a closer release date until sometime in August for this one.

Nintendo Australia also made available the sales stats for Pokemon Black and White Version, in its first week on sale it sold 77,000 units the fastest for any Nintendo game in Australia. The total of the games sales now sit at 251,000 units. Pokemon sells pretty well then still.

PokémonTM Black Version and PokémonTM White Version video games hit Australian stores in March 2011 and within one week sales combined sales exceeded 77,000* units – smashing all previous records for week one sales of a Nintendo game in Australia. To date, combined sales are now at more than 251,000 units.** Coming off the record-breaking popularity of these games Nintendo Australia announces today that two new Pokémon titles, PokémonTM Black Version 2 and PokémonTM White Version 2, are coming to Australia and New Zealand Spring 2012. Fans can anticipate plenty of new surprises when the games launch later this year.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 will be available for the Nintendo DSTM family of systems. The games can also be played on Nintendo 3DSTM in 2D. More game details will be announced throughout the year.
Game set to drop in UK alongside the leaves from the trees

Just a quickie here, Nintendo Europe has revealed the recently released Pokemon Black and White 2 will be arriving on British shores sometime in August. Which makes the English translation available in Spring, or the September/October/November rush which we gamers know so well. Especially those who are into military FPS’s. Australia’s release shouldn’t be too far behind.

The game launches in June for the Japanese, so while the delay is annoying, it’s sure less than some Pokemon games in the past. Nice they’ve managed to close that gap for series’ DS swan song.

Theyve officially run out of colours it seems, sequel to hit Japan in June

Junichi Masuda promised a surprise and here it is, Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 was announced on Pokemon Smash today and they’re essentially the ’third game’ in the Generation V line-up. No new colour or name it seems, so perhaps this one might be a little more different.

The game is set for release on the Nintendo DS in June for Japanese gamers, however there’s no word yet of an international release, outside of an vague coming soon from Nintendo.

The only real information revealed about the game was the fact that Kyurem will get two new forms, Black Kyurem & White Kyurem. However this information was posted on Masuda’s Twitter account.

So then, who’s excited?

Gamefreaks Junichi Masuda suggests we all pay attention this week to his Tweets

We’re all waiting for that that ’third’ Pokemon title after Pokemon Black and White’s release last year, although Japan have been waiting since 2010. However, it looks like the wait might finally be over. Gamefreak’s Junichi Masuda has answered questions about when the third game might be coming at a recent Q&A event. When asked about details of the game, he suggested to fans that they should watch an upcoming episode of the weekly Japanese Pokemon show, Pokemon Smash. He later said on his Twitter account that it was ’next week’s’ episode in a tweet last Sunday. Lets hope hes correct!

His response (in Japanese) in the below video and starts at the 4:30 mark, hear that audience reaction at 5 minutes in. While there is no concrete information on what system the game will come to, many believe it will come to the Nintendo 3DS, or perhaps the DS again but be enhanced like Pokemon Black and White were. All eyes toward Japan this Sunday then.

In other Pokemon news, last week CoroCro magazine revealed a brand new legendary Pokemon last week, the Keldeo. It was already known as it was hidden in game code, but the new Pokemon will be a star in the new movie which will be titled "Kyurem Vs. The Sacred Swordsman - Keldeo". It’s still unknown how you will be able to obtain him.

A new crossover SRPG with Pokemon and Nobunagas Ambition from Koei Tecmo

Well it’s not Pokemon Grey, but it is something else new! Revealed on the floor of this years Jump Fiesta expo is a new Pokemon game crossover with the Koei series, Nobunaga’s Ambition. If you haven’t heard of the game series before then we don’t blame you, we had to look it up as well.

The game is apparently going to be a SRPG developed by both Koei Tecmo and Nintendo for the Nintendo DS. Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara has previously mentioned that they were still keen on producing more DS Pokemon titles. The good news for 3DS owners is that this probably means the next mainline Pokemon game will be on that system.

We’ll have more details on Nobunaga’s Ambition X Pokemon as soon as they become available.

Now to answer the big question, will it be for the DS or 3DS?

The inevitable 3rd game in the Pokemon Black and White cycle is all but confirmed, now that Nintendo’s usual dot com registration company Melbourne IT Digital Brand Services (cor thats a mouthful) has registered pokemongray.com.

The news is a bit of a “yeah, like I needed evidence to know that,” but it is interesting to wonder whether Nintendo will use this game as a way to push the 3DS or the existing Black and White fanbase. Working within the existing story of this generation of Pokemon might give the Pokemon Company a bit longer to experiment with 3DS specific features. Although they would be sacrificing the “first Pokemon in 3D!” marketing tag for the next generation of Pokemans.

Generational transitions, we live in interesting times.

Nintendo bumped up the release date and no one knew, probably

Nintendo are funny people when it comes to release dates, and when I say funny people I mean like that movie Funny People. Which wasn’t funny at all, but actually quite crap. Anyway, Kirby Mass Attack was originally set for a November 10th release date here in Australia; well it was set on that date on Nintendos website.

We received a review copy just last week and wondered why we were getting it so early and well it turns out its actually out next week! Perhaps this changed a while back and we didnt notice but whatever the case the awesome platformer is out next Thursday.

Well have our review up soon too.
