People often don’t realize that throughout a console’s lifespan, its internal components are constantly changing with newer releases. Game console developers take advantage of the technological improvements that take place during the console’s life to make it cheaper and more efficient. Nintendo is reportedly considering changing the accelerometer in the Wii remote. The change would most likely make the console cheaper to produce and more reliable. So far Nintendo has neither confirmed nor denied the rumor. Some analysts are skeptical as to a Wii price cut however. With the Wii still enjoying unprecedented popularity, Nintendo has no reason to make the cut. Stay tuned for more developments on this story.
