Surprise! Now everyone gets in on the rolling Armadillo action

Nintendo overnight let Dillon’s Rolling Western loose on the eShop in every country on Earth. No stagnant release, no waiting a couple of days for it to appear - it was just there. Everyone wins!

The game is said to have at least 20 hours of gameplay and weighs in at a hefty $15.00 on the Australian eShop. To see some more about the game and discussion with the team at Nintendo America about the game check out the US version of Nintendo Direct which featured a ton of footage and information about the game.

Includes modern classics like Farming Simulator 2012 3D and Majescos Pet Zombies

A tonne of Virtual Console releases a getting dated all up in here and unlike most Nintendo dates, you can be pretty sure theyll translate pretty closely across regions. Eschewing fancier writing, I shall place these into a list for your reading pleasure and convenience.

3DS - Platform in brackets indicates Virtual Console release

March 1 - Punch-Out! (NES) and Super Mario Bros (NES)
March 2012 - Dr Mario (GB) and Fun! Fun! Minigolf TOUCH!
April 2012 - 3D Solitaire and SpeedThru: Potzols Puzzle
Q2 2012: Toki Tori (GB), Colours! 3D, Mutant Mudds, Picross e, Marvel Pinball 3D, Art of Balance TOUCH!

Wii

March 2012 - Mega Man X (SNES)
April 2012 - Metal Slug 3 (Neo Geo?) and La-Mulana

Additionally, our list of European releases also reveals the rough timetable of weird boxed games for the 3DS. Farming Simulator 2012 3D, the sequel to everyones favourite QL is set to land on the 29th of March, while the presumably best version of BATTLESHIP the videogame will hit in April, alongside the film. Two screens and 3D should do a decent job at replicating the boardgame? Majescos irresponsible educational title Pet Zombie is misinforming our kids in April, while Super Black Bass 3D should cater to any wobble bass enthusiasts who also own a 3DS in Q2. Although it might be a bit racist, so Id watch out for that.

Australian dates are less likely to be accurate on the bad boxed games, but youre also less likely to buy them. Glad to be reminded La-Mulana is making its way to Wiiware though, games a classic.

One gets a European release, the other an American release. Why? Because Tecmo

Fans of the Survival Horror genre rejoyce, for Tecmo has announced that both the Wii and 3DS Fatal Frame titles will be localised into English. The 3DS game, Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir, will be showing up in America around April, but has no European date. For those of you keeping track, this is the one which came out with a small physical book in Japan that became the centre of a horror story that took place IN YOUR OWN HOME using the magic of the AR camera. While no game could possibly live up to that premise, it might well be one of the more interesting uses of the hardware to date.

The Wii game is called Fatal Frame: Crimson Butterfly and is a remake of the earlier PS2 Fatal Frame by the same name. In addition to Wiimote gimmicks and the magic of 480p, the remake also adds a co-op mode to the game, which promises to be weird as hell. This one is slated for June in Europe but has no American date.

How these dates translate into local releases is still up in the air, but Crimson Butterfly at least should be fairly close.

Leaves a hint of what could be on the horizon, or not

In the wake of the Nintendo Direct news we’ve received just a little while ago, users of Nintendo Letter Box/Swapnote will be pleased to find in their inbox a personal message by The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma.

Cool, isn’t it? One thing we’ve noticed is the capitalisation of the word "New". Does this signal the beginning of a new branch of Zelda games, titled "New Legend of Zelda"? Or are we simply overreacting to a grammatical oversight? We’ll see.

At the time of this writing, the message was received by European users only. Hopefully Mr Aonuma spreads his love worldwide!

Its time to go after the casuals, Brain Training is coming back

Nintendos got the hardcore games happy for now on the Nintendo 3DS, its time to snag back those casuals. Nintendo is again working with Dr. Ryuta Kawashima, the literal face of the Brain Training games on the Nintendo DS for a new title. This new game is set to focus on concentration and working memory puzzles and the difficulty is so intense theyre calling it Devil Training. In fact Dr. Kawashima will appear in the game as the devil himself.

The game is due out by the middle of the year, the title will also be finalised and revealed along with more details at a later date.

Anyone needing their Brain Trained again?

There was one big surprise tonight, but we wont be able to guess what game it refers to

So tonights Nintendo Direct episode didn’t drop too many information bombs. But all is not lost as there was something shown, albeit briefly. It seems that Sega, Capcom and Namco Bandai are all teaming up for a Nintendo 3DS game… and that’s all we know.

There is a teaser website up as well. Namco Bandai who will be the publisher has put up the site and it’s pretty simple at the moment. The website also tells us that we won’t be able to guess or predict the identity of the game, according to Andriasang who has translated what little text it has.

So that leaves us with one alternative. Crazy and wild speculation time. Get to it folks, what do you think it could be?

Work on the next Smash Bros. game has finally begun

Satoru Iwata at last years Pre-E3 conference announced that there was a new Smash Bros. game in development for both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS, we now know that at some point in time the game hadnt even been started. Thats not the case now though almost a year later. With Kid Icarus Uprising down, Masahiro Sakurai is now moving onto the popular fighting game by looking over over the Smash Bros. Dojo.

By looking into the Dojo, he is going back to investigate how they made Brawl and go back and improve it presumably. However, upon studying the site hes found that making the game was perhaps harder then he remembers, he recently tweeted "However, whats the word... its tremendous. How did we make this?".

The Dojo was a first for Nintendo and a great source of entertainment for almost a year. The site, run by Sakurai had daily reveals and progress reports on Super Smash Bros. Brawl as it was being developed. Some days, little minute details were released about the game like the menu design and options page; other days, new characters were details as well as levels.

Dont expect to see much from Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS anytime soon, especially if Sakurai is still at pre-planning stages of the game. Then again, E3 is four months away!

The Sega Dreamcast classic may be given another shot thanks to Nintendo

The Dreamcast cult hit, Seaman, may be heading to the Nintendo 3DS, however it may not be Sega bringing the game, but Nintendo is. The online edition of the Japanese paper Nikkei says that this is a greater plan by Nintendo to revive popular third party titles for the Nintendo 3DS. Seaman is the only example that the site suggests but Nintendo wants to bring strong new titles to the system. Yoot Saito, the creator of Seaman is already working on a game in Level-5s Guild 01 title and has previously hinted that the game may come to the 3D system. In 2009, there was even rumours that the game may come to the Nintendo DS.

Seaman was released by Sega back in 1999 for the Dreamcast and made use of a microphone for talking to Seaman, something in those days that was very novel. Nowadays we can talk to our mobile phones, imagine what a Seaman game could cover these days.
