It lasted a while, but it finally happened. The Skyward Sword street date is busted.

UPDATE 1: In addition to GAME selling both JB and EB Games have sent their customers messages saying that they can pickup their copies today. Go get it!

Original Story: It was bound to happen and we’re suprised it didn’t happen earlier but consider the street date for Skyward Sword essentially busted now with GAME now selling the game to those with preorders.

But here’s where it gets tricky!

You can’t actually ’buy’ the game today. According to stores we phoned if you have a preorder you can ’pick up’ the game today and if you don’t have a preorder you can do a preorder for the game and then also pick it up today. The GAME people we spoke to admitted it was ’convoluted’ and that they couldn’t actually sell the game new. Those sly bastards.

With the GAME doing this ’work around’ to sell the game we wonder now if other retailers will simply say ’GAME broke’ it and start selling. The last few hours before retail closes are always interesting so keep your eyes on Vooks if any other retailers give the go ahead.
