Just not right away, 3DS Ambassadors will have to update their games to receive

Nintendo’s finally doing something we’ve all be hoping for a while now; they’re implementing multiplayer capability into NES games on the 3DS. The 10 free NES games that 3DS Ambassadors initially receive won’t have the feature from the get-go, but will be updated at a later date to have this functionality. When the games go on sale for the general public they’ll have these features built in. Nintendo just really wants to give you those NES games as soon as possible.

Mock-up of The Legend of Zelda

Let’s hope this offer will eventually extend to Game Boy games that have multiplayer functionality as well as Game Boy Advance games. So far the NES titles include Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda. More will be revealed at a later date.
