Doesnt want fans to be feel punished for buying the system early

When Nintendo dropped the price of the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendos CEO Satoru Iwata was very humble about it. He even wrote a big old letter to fans explaining it all, that letter has now been translated into English for the world to see. A similar message was delivered from Nintendo Europe but this letter was personally attributed to Mr Iwata.

Nintendo didnt make the 3DS price drop easily and says "We are all too keenly aware that those of you who supported us by purchasing the 3DS in the beginning may feel betrayed and criticize this decision," says Iwata in the letter.

"This unprecedented timing for a price cut is because the situation has changed greatly since we originally launched the 3DS. We decided it was necessary to take this drastic step in order to ensure that large numbers of users will continue to enjoy the 3DS in the future."

"Those customers who purchased the 3DS at the very beginning are extremely important to us, We know that there is nothing we can do to completely make up for the feeling that you are being punished for buying the system early."

Nintendo is never usually this open and honest with its fans and its a great thing to see, pity we had to see the Nintendo 3DS sink to these levels before we could get that type of honesty out of them. A full read of the letter is worth it for all Nintendo fans.
