My wii has a softmod, when a game asks for an update. What do I do?

What do you do in this instant, I have 3.4u!! Is there a file you need to run or do you just say no to the request?
If I have HDD (western digital) will I be able to run neogamma or gecko through the HDD? Thanks for all the help. I would prefer to stay away from starfall.
